國際生大手牽小手-與文華高中學生至高美濕地淨灘
On November 5, 2022, six international students from three different countries along with a few Wenhua High School students went to Gaomei Wetland to clean up the beach.
Although it was a windy and rainy day, the determination to contribute towards the sustainable development of the earth could not be extinguished. Everyone worked together to clean up the garbage on the beach which included: plastics, glass bottles, styrofoam, water pipes, etc. For international students, the same situation may be encountered in their own countries. Afterall, sustainable development and ecological conservation are global issues.
After having lunch at the visitor center, we went to Gaomei Wetland. The tour guide briefly introduced the history, animal ecology, natural landscape, and afterwards we watched the beautiful sunset of Gaomei Wetland. After seeing the natural beauty of Gaomei, everyone realized the importance of environmental protection.
Finally, the Wenhua High School students conducted an interview with the international students. Not only did they talk about the day’s activities, but they also disucssed their reasons for studying abroad and the differences between Taiwan and their own country. During the interview, one of the international students said, "Although I'll be cleaning sand out of my ears and shoes for the next couple coming weeks, I really enjoyed the experience and I’m looking forward to the next time. Not only did I get to contribute towards protecting and cleaning up the earth, I also got to know a bit more about taiwanese culture through interacting with the teachers and students. It was an unforgettable experience!"
